  • Comments: M.viescensis has a history of mistakes and changes. In 1967, Deherdt received seeds from Mexico and sold them as M.chica, but a year later Schwarz named them viescensis. At the end of the seventies Uhlig had a m.chica, but that wasn?t the same as the chica Schwarz -Deherdt. These plants were found in another region. Remarkable for these plants is that they have hooked centrals. Another mistake was made by Reppenhagen who described Ulhigs plant as mam chica. In spite of this, it was a valid description by Rogozinski and Appenzeller. But Rogozinski and Reppenhagen forgot to compare with gasseriana. However in 1997, Glass and Fitz-Maurice rejected this description and placed viescensis as a synonym of gasseriana.
